Vice Mayor James Walls Jr. to Chair MD Local Elected Officials for Baldwin
Dear Fellow Colleagues,
I’m writing this letter to introduce you to my Friend and an Outstanding Leader in the Maryland State Democratic Party, Mishonda Baldwin, Candidate for the United States House of Representatives 3rd Congressional District.
Mishonda Baldwin is the daughter of a union representative; she is a long-time Maryland resident, a former County Commissioner, War veteran and Leadership Fellow, Attorney, and Seminarian. A decorated Desert Storm war veteran she brings compassion and a unique perspective to the Iraqi War. Ms. Baldwin served as an intelligence officer, which provides her with the ability to provide tremendous insight to Homeland Security issues.
In 2001, Mishonda was confirmed in the Maryland State Senate as one of the youngest Board of License Commissioners and has served on the County Democratic Central Committee. Not only has she served the Democratic Party on the State and County Level but also, she most recently represented the National Democratic Party as a United States Delegate to Egypt and Jordan for the US State Department Bureau of Cultural Exchange Program the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL).
She is a dedicated community activist who has served on many local and national levels with various political and civic organizations. Because, of her commitment to public service she has received many accolades and awards. Such as two Presidential Awards for service from the National Bar Association, the highest leadership award given by the University of Connecticut, and the Spirit of Excellence Award from the University of Baltimore to just name a few.
Mishonda Baldwin, has not only shown are leadership to Public Service but also her leadership though Education. Baldwin’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Sciences in Social Policy and Planning from the University of Connecticut, and a Masters of Arts in Counseling Psychology, and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore School of Law. She is currently working on attaining a Masters in Divinity at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC. As a practicing attorney, Ms. Baldwin protects and advocates for the rights of her clients on a daily basis. Her long standing commitment to public service, her desire to speak up for those whom are voiceless, and her concern for others demonstrate the many ways in which she uses her education for the benefit of all people.
Mishonda M. Baldwin is striving to make history by becoming the “first African American woman elected to the United States House of Representatives in the state of Maryland”. I ask that you would help support this Outstanding Young Democratic Leader in her quest to serve this Great State and Country.
